Half the web is built on a 20+ year-old open-source software project. Everyone has heard of it, and most people you know have used it. That software project is WordPress. You never have to look far to find people who know it well and others who are new to it. When they get together and start sharing, that’s the WordPress community.
From high-end enterprise applications to small businesses, makers, solo entrepreneurs, freelancer designers and digital agencies, WordPress is their preferred platform. For publishing, custom application development, and any other task, WordPress is free and open for anyone to develop and extend.
WordPress Meetups are locally self-organized groups that get together for face-to-face events on a regular basis, typically once a month. Anything that brings together two or more people to share their WordPress experiences (good, bad, or indifferent!) counts.
Our evolving program is what attendees make it. While there’s no required format, we often have a regular or invited speaker. Could that be you? Just ask!

What We Do
Typically we eat together and talk informally before any planned activity starts. Purely social gatherings are a nice way to take things easy in the winter and midsummer months. We’re open to doing workshops, hackathons, and help desks or clinics for people with wonky WordPress sites. Co-working on our own projects and joining WordPress contributor days are also things you may see on the schedule.
Where We Meet
In-Person
We meet at Edmonton Unlimited (10107 Jasper Ave, Edmonton, AB T5J 1W8) on the second-to-last Wednesdays of each month. Start time is 6:00 PM (MST). Enter the building through the main entrance on the corner of Jasper Ave. and 101 St. We’re to the right (west wall) as you enter. Normally, we’ll be in the open area next to the kitchen.
